Voting in the Telangana State Bar Council Elections 2026 follows strict rules. Even a small mistake can make an otherwise genuine vote invalid. This post explains what advocates must NOT do inside the polling booth.
Election Reference
- Election Date: 30 January 2026
- Polling Time: 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Voting System: Proportional Representation by Single Transferable Vote (STV)
Do Not Use Digits or Symbols
- Do not write numeric digits like
1,2,3 - Do not use tick marks (✓), crosses (✗), dots, or symbols
Preferences must be written only in words, such as ONE, TWO, THREE.
Do Not Use Your Own Pen
- Only the pen provided by the polling officer is allowed
- Using a personal pen will invalidate the vote
This rule protects voter secrecy and uniformity.
Do Not Give Fewer Than Five Preferences

- Writing fewer than FIVE preferences makes the vote invalid
- The minimum required sequence is:
- ONE
- TWO
- THREE
- FOUR
- FIVE
Anything less is not accepted.
Do Not Break the Preference Order
- Do not skip any preference number
- Do not jump ahead in the sequence
- Preferences must remain continuous
Breaking the order affects vote validity.
Do Not Give ONE to More Than One Candidate
- The first preference ONE must be written for only one candidate
- Writing ONE for multiple candidates cancels the entire ballot
This is a critical rule.
Do Not Reveal Your Identity
- Do not write your name or signature
- Do not add any marks that identify you
Revealing identity invalidates the vote.
Mandatory Identification Reminder
- Carry Bar Council ID or Bar Association Advocate ID
- Entry is not allowed without valid identification
