In the Telangana State Bar Council Elections 2026, skipping a preference number is one of the most common and dangerous voting mistakes. Many advocates assume their vote is fully valid, but under the rules, this is not always true.
The Golden Rule: No Break in Sequence
Preferences must be written continuously in words, without skipping any number.
The correct format is:
ONE → TWO → THREE → FOUR → FIVE
If this sequence is broken, the vote stops counting at the break point.
How Skipping a Preference Affects Your Vote
- If the break happens before completing five preferences
→ Entire vote becomes INVALID - If the break happens after five correct preferences
→ Vote is counted only up to the last correct number
Understanding Partial Validity (Simple Explanation)
A vote can be partially valid only when the first FIVE preferences are correctly written.
If fewer than five sequential preferences exist, partial validity does not apply.
